Declaration of the Guinean League for Human Rights (LGDCFF) on the wrongs committed on 28 September 2009 against the people of Guinea
Once again history proves right to our organization.
That one greeted with extreme suspicion the seizure of power by the military junta on December 28, 2008.
The rules of life in the Guinean army are fundamentally different from those of the armies of neighboring countries. If discipline is the main strength of all armies, the Guinean army escapes this rule. The first army, born of the attainment of Guinea to international sovereignty, was composed in large part by our brothers who are in the French army. They were deeply imbued with a true discipline. The pseudo-revolutionary regime harbored against them a great distrust, and preferred to rely on a militia.
The military who took power the 3rd of April 1984 after the death of Sekou Toure still had a great love for their country and its defense. But from that date, method of recruitment changes and new elements from the militia called “popular” integrated the army. These elements are politicized and corrupt.
Today, the entire body of the army of our country is deeply plagued by corruption, just like all the institutions that govern Guinea. This, together with a complete lack of political will has led our country to a stage of complete breakdown in all areas.
The lack of real governance, due to the prolonged illness of the Chief Executive has ensured that men shamelessly engaged in systematic plundering of the wealth of our country.
In 2007, riots broke out following demonstrations demanding the increased of purchasing power and job creation. To regain control of the situation, the government appealed not only to troops from Guinea-Bissau, but also and especially to the criminals who served alongside Charles Taylor in Liberia.
We remember the poor record of such tragedies. Since September 28, 2008, when the takeover by the military junta, Captain Dadis Moussa Camara opened the military to drug traffickers.
Political parties united for the first time decided to organize a peaceful opposition to the possible candidacy of Moussa Camara Dadis as President of the Republic. Since September 27, 2009, Moussa Camara Dadis meet at Camp Alpha Yaya one hundred men for a session that lasted until four o’clock in the morning – sitting in drugs.
These are the men who murdered with impunity, raped and beat up the peaceful demonstrators, killing more than 260 people and leaving thousands injured.
Why are they protesting? To remind the Captain Musa Camara Dadis his solemn promise made to political parties and the public international organization to hold free and transparent presidential elections. He also promised that neither him nor the CNDD members would participate.
What are the aspirations of the forces of all political parties representing our country? The implementation of all the democratic structures which are sorely lacking in the Guinea for half a century.
Why all of these killings by these pseudo red berets that are really professional killers only to serve a man? Captain Dadis Moussa Camara wants to stay on top of what remains of the state to perpetuate the commodification of our country, now a hub of drug traffickers in Africa.
The LGDHCFF welcomes the revival of the union of all democratic forces of our country.
On September 28 must be for all patriots, a landmark: that of an awareness of the possible union of all the people to build a fraternal democracy.
- The LGDHCFF considers that the main objective of all political parties representing the union is saying no to “colombinisation” of our country.
- The LGDHCFF consider that the actual power in Guinea is fully responsible for the bestialities committed against us, September 28, 2009. The Conference urges all African and international implementation to encourage the creation of a national unity government of transition for the purpose of preparing a free and fair presidential election.
- The LGDHCFF urges the organizations of political parties representing our country to create a national commission to develop the status of a new republican army and, knowing the army’s main task is the defense the national territory and the safeguarding of persons and property in the country.
- The LGDHCFF notes that at the dawn of the 51st year of the accession of our country’s independence, democracy should be a vital element in Guinea, where we note a complete breakdown of equilibrium in all areas of life, due to corruption.
- The LGDHCFF says with real conviction that it is with all political parties that we will change the history of our country.
Politics for politicians,
Barracks for militaries.
