March on Washington planned for Monday, Oct. 26
On this Monday, October 26 there will be a march in Washington DC to raise awareness about the atrocities committed on September 28 in Guinea and to garner continued support for justice, an end to military rule and a transition to a democratically elected civil government in the country.
Organized in particular as a women’s march in protest to the horrific violence against women and girls committed that day and the need for peace and unity in Guinea, the march is expected to bring together thousands of women and men – Guineans and other friends of Guinea – from around the United States that day to express their outrage and demands for justice and democracy.
The march will begin at 10am at Lafayette Park, with stops at the State Department and Capitol Hill. Detailed itinerary forthcoming.

Our goal: to make the 26th as big a show of solidarity as possible – demonstrating that Guinean tragedies and dreams are everyone’s tragedies and dreams.

Make yourself heard in Washington : If you are in Guinea or elsewhere and cannot join us for the march on the 26th, what do you want for us to say in on your behalf to the American political leaders?
Please let the US government know that this case is the last chance that the Guinean people have to change miltary rulers in power.
Guinea is among the first countries in africa to be independent and today it is among the 10 poorest countries in te world.
Guinea is one of the fewer counties with soldires in power.
Reagrdless whoever it would be, the Guinean population prefers a politician/civilian in power than a man in uniform who enlishes other soldiers to kill the innocent civilians to keep the power he does not deserve.
Our main request today is to tradict the killers to court. We want justice. We want the soldiers to know that they are not gods, but humans and they should respond to their acts. We want they to know that they are not above the law.

Le gouvernement américain doit savoir que cette affaire est la dernière chance pour le peuple guinéen de voir changer les dirigeants militaires au pouvoir.
La Guinée est parmi les premiers pays en Afrique à avoir accédé à l’indépendance et elle est aujourd’hui parmi les 10 pays les plus pauvres dans le monde.
La Guinée est l’un des derniers pays avec des soldats au pouvoir.
Qui que ce serait, la population guinéenne préfère un homme politique ou civil au pouvoir plutôt qu’un homme en uniforme qui encourage les autres soldats à tuer des civils innocents pour maintenir le pouvoir, il ne mérite pas.
Nous demandons aujourd’hui que les assassins soient traduits devant les tribunaux. Nous voulons la justice. Nous voulons que les soldats sachent qu’ils ne sont pas des dieux, mais des humains et ils doivent répondre de leurs actes. Nous voulons qu’ils sachent qu’ils ne sont pas au dessus des lois.

My wife and I, both 78 years of age, totally support the march, we were horrified at the massacre, the continued culture of violence, and terror. Wish we were able to join the march!
