Alliance Guinea is heartened to hear that the National Communications Council (CNC) of Guinea has now lifted this media ban [http://www.rfi.fr/afrique/20110728-conakry-leve-restrictions-imposees-medias] - no doubt in response to the universal outrage it caused both domestically and abroad, especially during President Conde's ongoing state visit to Washington. At the same time, we remained concerned by the CNC's language that the blackout was cancelled under the condition that "things do not get out of hand" (« à condition qu'il n'y ait pas de dérapage »). The freedoms of press and expression are the hallmarks of an open and democratic society and should be guaranteed, for all Guineans.

Alliance Guinea is certainly to be commended for the very important work they are doing in transitioning Guinea toward a more just and equatable form of governance. May I venture to suggest a potential solution to the current ethnic conflicts?

I understand that the people of Guinea are just beginning their journey toward true democracy, however, dare I suggest that the classic two party party political system may not be the right system for a tribal country such as Guinea. What makes more sense to me is a coalition government comprised of elected representatives from each tribal group, with the role of Prime Minister chosen from and by the members of that group for a rotating term. This is still creating a democratic system, but allows for the existing and ancient structure of the people of Guinea.

In order for Guinea to prosper as a whole, each person from each tribe must feel that they are being care about, are getting their most basic needs met, and are receiving some tangible benefit from the untapped natural wealth of the country. True democracy springs from the hearts and spirits of the all people in a grass-roots upwelling ... any government's attempts at democracy is only a reflection and a representation of the collective will of the people.

The truth of the matter is that Guinea will not see PEACE until all the people from all the tribes are prospering together and their welfare is being well represented. A simple two party system will never give them this stability, given the tribal nature of the country; a truly representative government system incorporating tribal affiliations, is the only viable solution to the issues blocking their road toward finding a deep lasting peace.

May the people of Guinea could see past this time of conflict to the vast opportunity they have in front of them to create a lasting sustainable future for their country and ALL of it’s citizens. I hope they can grasp this shining moment.

Thank you.

The GV10 initiative that should replicated all across the globe, even here in the US. Democracy is best served when the people monitor, report and hold the government responsible. We, in the African Diaspora, must collaborate with all allies to make Africa free, to reduce violence against our people, and to develop the economic potential of Africa to advance its many peoples. The Alliance Guinea is a great forum for this constructive development.

i must give kudos to the alliance team and also express my gratitude to the American government for their support in making sure there is peace and order in Guinea. the next thing i would want the sates department to do is to ensure that with co operation of the electoral commission in Guinea , there will be free and fair election.
further more , united states should also help guinea to establish a good system of governance in terms of freedom of speech of the pulic and private sector. after the elections which hope to be free and fair , america should not see guinea as a nation not to exploited in terms of natural resources but a nation to be guided on how to manage those resources for the betterment of the population and development of infrastructures in Guinea.
long live america, long live Guinea , long live Guinea youth. God bless you all

2-What will be the level of involvement of the USA in the supervision of the next Guinean elections?
